Whether you prefer to meal prep a week in advance or order pizza on the fly, you can never go wrong with smart technology to make mealtime easier. Finding the time to make a three-course meal may have been nearly impossible in the past. But smart appliances like a smart fridge or a smart oven are making the impossible possible. With amazing features such as remote control, voice control, and cooking notifications, you’ll be able to whip up a five-star meal in no time.

What is a smart oven?

What is a smart oven?

Smart ovens are designed with the latest and greatest smart technology to simplify the cooking process and minimize your time in the kitchen. They can do everything that your average oven can—and so much more. By automatically calculating the time and temperature with an internal thermometer, they increase your kitchen’s efficiency. A smart oven will remember cook times for you, cook your food evenly, and prevent food from burning.

Some smart ovens are equipped with a scanning device to read the bar code on certain food products. The oven then adjusts to the correct temperature and cook time automatically. Smart ovens aren’t as quick as a microwave, but they can be faster than a traditional oven. They don’t need as much time to heat up and can speed up the cooking process up to 30%. Like most smart devices, they can also save you money on your energy bill and help reduce food waste.

What can a smart oven do?

A smart oven can do so much more than bake treats for your loved ones and fuel your obsession with sourdough bread. Thanks to Bluetooth or your home WiFi, you can connect your smartphone to your oven, giving you the ability to use your appliance remotely. Whether you’re in the next room or across town, you can easily:

  • Switch the oven on and off from your phone.
  • Preheat the oven on your way home.
  • Adjust any settings and timers from your phone.
  • See cooking notifications on your phone.
  • Use smart voice assistants, like Amazon Alexa.
  • Send recipes to your oven for automatic setting and temperature selection.

Cooking notifications

Without a doubt, one of the best features of a smart oven are the cooking notifications. Once you connect your device to your home WiFi or Bluetooth and program your desired settings, you’ll start getting notifications sent to your phone. As soon as your food is done cooking, you’ll get an alert it’s time to enjoy your meal. If something goes wrong or your power goes out, the oven will let you know.

Voice assistants

Just like most other smart devices, you can use voice control on your smart oven. You can simply tell your voice assistant, such as Alexa, Google Nest, or Samsung Bixby, to preheat the oven or raise the temperature. Voice control gives you the ability to multitask throughout the day and cook or bake as you do other things.

Bar code scanning

The Tovala Smart Oven is famous for its “scan to cook technology.” There’s no preheating needed. Simply scan a Tovala meal or a variety of scannable food brands, including Annie’s, Red Baron, Eggos, Pillsbury, Kashi, Bagel Bites, and more. Your oven will scan the bar code and automatically adjust the temperature and time to the specific meal you picked. The Tovala is also controlled from your smartphone. Once you set the cook mode and time from the app, the automated cook cycles will do the rest to cook your meal for you.

Smart cooking with AI

The new Bosch Series 8 accent line sensor oven features built-in artificial intelligence that accurately predicts when a dish is done. All you have to do is choose the appropriate cooking program on the oven’s touchscreen or in the app and slide the dish into the oven. For example, if you’re making a batch of Grandma’s famous chocolate chip cookies (with that secret ingredient you’ll never reveal), simply select the program for cookies and the smart oven will take care of the rest. Using AI technology, the sensors can even predict exactly when your cookies will be ready. The AI calculates baking time based on other readings on different types of food. In other words, the algorithm learns on the fly and grows smarter as it goes.
